Career Paths: Commisioned Corps
For many dentists and dental hygienists, the favored route to a successful and rewarding career opportunity with the Indian Health Service (IHS) is to become a Commissioned Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS). PHS is one of the seven uniformed services of the United States Government, but is not a military service. For instance, successful applicants do not have to go to boot camp.
